The right fit for your Meta Quest headset is crucial for an immersive and comfortable experience. Adjust the head straps so the headset is snug but not too tight. The lenses should sit right in front of your eyes, with minimal gaps on the sides to avoid light leakage. For extra comfort, you can experiment with different facial interfaces or padding to find what feels best for you. A well-fitted headset reduces the strain on your neck and ensures a clear visual experience, which is critical for extended workouts. 

If you own the Meta Quest 3 headset, you can also use to customize how far or close together your lenses are and how far they are from your face. Lastly, if you have glasses, we recommend for a much more comfortable experience.

Maintaining clean lenses can make a huge difference in your mixed reality clarity. Use a microfiber cloth to wipe the lenses, as paper towels or other materials may scratch them. Avoid using liquids directly on the lenses—if needed, slightly dampen the cloth. Dust, fingerprints, or smudges can distort your view, so make cleaning a regular part of your routine. You’ll see sharper graphics and details with clean lenses, making your MR workout experience much more engaging. Pro tip: Store your microfiber cloth wherever you store your headset. This helps ensure you always have it when needed, and you’re not tempted to use potentially lens-damaging materials like your t-shirt sleeve!

We challenged to a 90-day fitness journey with 911±¬ÁĎÍř—and she said yes! Although she wasn’t sure what to expect from the next 12 weeks, she was excited to explore everything 911±¬ÁĎÍř offers. What she didn’t realize was how this journey would turn into a transformative adventure, pushing her limits and helping her grow stronger both mentally and physically. Here’s how it went:

In each workout, you’ll get expert advice from trainer Anthony from start to finish. Here’s what to expect in each one:

Strength 101

This beginner-friendly Strength class is 10 minutes of biceps, shoulders, and quads. In this workout, you’ll use real dumbbells (or opt for bodyweight) to build a strong foundation. Who said you can’t get strong in VR?! The exercises in this class include three different types of bicep curls, suitcase and sumo squats, and neutral and open shoulder presses. You’ll end the class with a compound movement that combines them all together. But don’t worry if you’ve never done these before, Anthony walks you through it step-by-step. Throughout the class, he’ll help keep you on top of your form—performing the exercises alongside you so you can easily follow along. 

Intro to Total Body Workouts

This five-minute, two-song workout is an excellent introduction to Total Body. Throughout the class, trainer Anthony leads you through multiple rounds of body weight squats, standing marches, battle ropes, and speed bags. Foundation is key in this beginner-level class, so you can expect a full break-down of every single movement. After Anthony talks you through technique, you’ll get a chance to practice each exercise—and rack up points on the speed bag! Mirror Anthony from start to finish, and you’ll leave feeling confident to take on your next Total Body class. 

Mitt Drill 101

Ready to jump into Mitt Drills? Anthony’s got you covered with this 10-minute beginner-friendly introduction. He’ll start by walking you through your boxer stance and reviewing all six punches. Then, you’ll work through some simple punch combos as you familiarize yourself with the basics of front vs. back, high vs. low, flows vs. flurries, and offensive vs. defensive moves. Anthony breaks down every single punch, and as you’re practicing he’ll call out form corrections and encouragement. Before you know it, those jabs and crosses will start to feel like second nature! 

Boxing 101

In Boxing 101, you’ll get into the basics of trainer-led boxing classes as Anthony guides you through eight minutes of simple combos to get the ball rolling. After an introduction to the Liteshield and your boxing footwork and stance, you’ll get right into it throwing jabs, crosses, and uppercuts. You’re dialing up the intensity in every sweat-inducing 911±¬ÁĎÍř workout. Throughout a Boxing, Total Body, or Strength class, your heart rate elevates, your blood flow increases, and your muscles fire on all cylinders to keep up with your fists, reps, and rope slams. 

This type of workout demands a lot from your body. That’s why bringing your body back to baseline after you finish your workout is essential. This is where a cool-down comes in. Cooling down can help enhance recovery and prevent injury. With only a few extra minutes, you can do your body a lot of good. 

Read on to learn more about the importance of a cool-down and what you should do after each class. We’ll also share eight of our favorite post-workout stretches you can try after your next full-body 911±¬ÁĎÍř workout.

What Is a Cool Down and Why Is It Important?

Cooling down after exercise is a vital part of your fitness routine. It’s critical to keeping your body healthy, reaching your goals, and avoiding injury along the way. And your recovery starts with a cool-down. Cooling down involves performing low-intensity exercises and static stretches to help your body transition from intense activity to a resting state. Here’s why it’s crucial:

  • Reduces Muscle Soreness: Cool-down exercises help dissipate lactic acid build-up in your muscles, which can reduce soreness the next day. 

  • Prevents Injury: Gradually slowing your heart rate and stretching muscles can help prevent injuries.

  • Enhances Flexibility: Stretching during your cool-down improves flexibility and range of motion. Since your muscles are warmed up immediately after a workout, the muscle fibers easily lengthen during a cool down, deepening the stretch.

  • Promotes Relaxation: Cooling down gives your mind and body a chance to relax and recover, rather than immediately jumping into the shower or your next activity. 

How Do You Cool Down After Exercise?

When cooling down, keep the following tips in mind:

  • Gradually Decrease Intensity: Don’t stop your workout abruptly. Slow down your movements gradually. For example, a great cool-down for a run is a slower jog or a walk. 

  • Focus on Breath Control: Deep breathing helps lower your heart rate and calms your mind. Take a few minutes after your workout to focus on breathing, giving yourself time to return to normal. 

  • Hydrate: Drink plenty of fluids. This will help you replace what you sweat and regulate your body’s temperature so you can cool down.

  • Hold Stretches: Unlike dynamic stretching during your warm-up, the key to a cool-down is static stretching or holding the stretch. Aim to hold each stretch for at least 15-30 seconds to allow your muscles to relax. 

8 Great Cool Down Exercises

While our trainer-led classes offer a small amount of stretching at the end of each class, if you have more time in your schedule, it’s always a good idea to add more stretches depending on where your body needs them most. With these eight stretches, you can target the major muscles you’re using in 911±¬ÁĎÍř, including your quads, calves, hip flexors, triceps, shoulders, hamstrings, and more:

  1. Standing Quad Stretch

Stand on one leg and pull the other foot towards your butt. Keep your knees close together. You should feel this one in your quadriceps. It’s also great for practicing your balance, or you could grip a chair or a wall for extra support. Hold for 15-30 seconds, then repeat on the other leg. 

2. Standing Calf Stretch

Place your hands against a wall, step one foot back, and lean towards the wall as you press your heels into the ground. Bend your front knee while keeping your back leg extended. You should feel this stretch in the calf of the leg farthest from the wall, helping reduce any tightness in your lower leg. Hold for 15-30 seconds, then repeat with the other leg. 

3. Figure Four Hip Stretch

While grabbing hold of a counter, chair, or some other unmovable object, cross one ankle over your opposite thigh. Sit your hips back and bend until you feel an opening in your hip. You can also do this stretch sitting on the floor! This exercise is great for stretching and alleviating any tension in the hip flexors. Make sure to repeat on the opposite side. 

4. Tricep Stretch

Reach one arm overhead and down your back. Use the other hand to push the elbow down gently. This exercise helps stretch the triceps and improves shoulder flexibility. Hold for 30 seconds, and then repeat on the other arm. 

5. Shoulder Stretch

Bring one arm across your body and use the other arm to press it towards your chest. This helps stretch the shoulder, relieving any tension you might be experiencing post-workout. Hold for 30 seconds, and then repeat on the other side. 

6. Hamstring Stretch

Sit on the ground with one leg extended and the other bent. Reach towards the toes of your extended leg. Depending on your hamstring flexibility, you might not have to reach very far to experience a stretch in the back of your leg. This is also an excellent stretch for your lower back! Hold, then repeat on the other side. 

7. Downward Facing Dog

If you do yoga, you’ll be familiar with this pose! From a plank position, lift your hips towards the ceiling, creating an inverted V-shape. Press your heels into the ground and align your head with your shoulders. This pose stretches your entire back, hamstrings, and calves. 

8. Child’s Pose

Kneel on the ground, sit back on your heels, and stretch your arms forward on the ground. This is a great position for breathing and relaxing post-workout while stretching your shoulders and back.

3. Follow Other Fighters

To challenge another fighter to a 911±¬ÁĎÍř Match, you need to be following them. Following other fighters is another great way to build community in 911±¬ÁĎÍř. All you have to do is search for the user and select the “follow” icon next to their name. Now that you’re following them, you can send a Match request after finishing a workout. Following also makes it easier to keep tabs on your favorite athletes and their performance stats, including punch count, match wins, and more. Just head to the Community tab to view a list of your followers and those you follow. You can also view your Match requests and final results in the Community tab. 

4. Join Community Competitions 

Over the years, we’ve hosted several community competitions that any 911±¬ÁĎÍř member can join, like our 7-day Spring Challenge, Summer Fitness Challenge, and November Fitness Challenge. The recommends getting at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise or 75 minutes of high-intensity exercise each week. But as your schedule gets busier with summer plans, you’re often left wondering: When and how can I fit a workout into my routine? 

To help you reap the many benefits of exercise, check out these eight helpful tips for fitting a workout into your busy summer schedule

  1. Set a Goal (And Keep Track of Your Progress)

It’s easier to prioritize a workout when you have something you’re working toward. By setting a fitness or health goal, your workout becomes more than just another round of boxing in the ring or lifting weights in a Strength class. It’s a step forward in achieving your health and wellness goals. 

That way, when things get busy, you have that goal as a reminder of why squeezing a workout into your day is important. Start by identifying your motivation for working out. Are you looking to build confidence, strength, endurance, or some combination of all three? 

Then, think about how you want to feel or what you want to achieve by the end of this summer. Is there a fitness or health goal that’s meaningful to you? How can a regular workout routine help you achieve it? 

Once you have a goal in mind, use our performance tracking and results to monitor and celebrate your progress. Knowing you’re close to hitting a goal could be that push you need to get back in the ring for another sweat-inducing workout. 

2. Schedule Your Workouts

If you struggle to fit exercise into your busy routine, one of the best strategies is to schedule your workouts. Determine where you have time in your day and pencil it in. 

Then, treat this calendar hold like you would any other meeting or event. When you have an important meeting on your calendar, you plan around it. If something comes up, you reschedule for a better time. Treat your workouts the exact same way. 

Think of it as an important one-on-one meeting between you and your health goals. This gets you into the habit of viewing your workout just like any other hold on your calendar. So when the reminder pops up, you automatically transition to workout mode. 

3. Take Advantage of Small Pockets of Time in Your Schedule

When you go to schedule your workout and discover you have zero time, keep in mind that you don’t need a full hour to get in a great workout. Use that 5- or 10-minute window to schedule a short but effective Punch Track or Express Trainer Class

After all, a ten- or fifteen-minute workout is better than no workout. You’re still experiencing the health benefits of exercise, even if you’re breaking out that exercise into smaller chunks. Whether you do five 15-minute workouts or two hour-long workouts each week, you’re still hitting the goal of 75 minutes of high-intensity exercise. 

4. Take Your Workout With You

It’s hard to stick to a regular workout routine when summer is jam-packed with vacations or time visiting friends. But what if you could take your workout with you? Unlike a gym, with 911±¬ÁĎÍř, all you need is your Meta headset (and maybe a set of dumbbells for your Strength workout!). The good news here: Meta Quest 2, Meta Quest Pro, and Meta Quest 3 all weigh just over a pound, making it super easy to pack in your bag and take on the go. That way, when those small pockets of time present themselves, you can squeeze in a quick 20 or 15-minute workout. 

5. Embrace the Early-Morning Workout

If you’re still struggling to fit in a workout, it might be time to embrace the morning workout routine. Set your alarm a little earlier than usual, grab a quick bite to eat, and get your workout in before your day even starts. 

It might be tough to get out of bed at first, but over time, you might find that you enjoy the routine. For many early morning risers, it’s the best part of their day. Before the kids wake up or your to-do list starts calling your name, it’s built-in “you time” to kickstart your day on a positive note. 

But don’t sacrifice sleep to make this work! Make sure you get your full eight hours of sleep by going to bed a bit earlier the night before. 

6. Change Into Workout Clothes

When you don’t have much time in your day, sometimes a workout needs to happen on a whim, like when something gets canceled, or you have an unexpected 20 minutes of extra time between meetings. If you’re already in your workout clothes, it's much easier to throw on the headset and press play on a Punch Track, a quick Boxing class, or a Strength workout

Even if it’s not realistic for you to wear workout clothes all day long, you can still apply this simple trick. For example, bring workout clothes with you to work. At the end of your day, before you head home, change into your workout clothes right at the office. That way, when you get home, you’ll be ready to start your workout and less likely to get derailed by your bed or couch. 

Or, if you’re trying to start an early-morning workout routine, wear your workout clothes to bed. This tactic also works if you find yourself procrastinating or debating whether you will work out. Even something as simple as changing into your workout clothes can get you in the right frame of mind to go through with your workout.

7. Get Your Friends Involved

It’s much easier to schedule and stick to your workouts when you have a workout buddy or a motivating community cheering you on. Tell friends or family about your summer fitness goals or invite them to join you. It helps to have that extra layer of accountability to hold you to the goals you set for yourself at the start of the summer. Plus, it’s a lot more fun to work out with friends.

A warm-up is a series of activities designed to prepare your body for more intense physical activity. It gradually increases your heart rate, improves blood flow to your muscles, and loosens your joints. But why is this so important?

  • Reduces Risk of Injury: A good warm-up helps reduce the likelihood of strains and sprains by increasing blood flow and muscle temperature.

  • Enhances Performance: When your muscles are warm and flexible, they perform better, allowing you to push harder and achieve more during your workout.

  • Mental Preparation: Warming up isn’t just physical—it also helps you mentally transition from rest to workout mode, ensuring you’re fully focused and ready to smash those 911±¬ÁĎÍř goals.

How to Warm Up Before Your Workout

Warming up doesn’t have to be complicated. Ideally, a warm-up should last around 5-10 minutes and include light aerobic activity and dynamic stretching. But even if you only have a few minutes, it’s better to do a quick warm-up than nothing! Start with a few minutes of light cardio to increase your heart rate. Then, move to some dynamic stretches to get your muscles activated and ready to work. Here’s what that looks like in action: 

  1. Start with Light Cardio: 3-5 minutes of light cardiovascular exercise (e.g., shadowboxing, running in place, jumping jacks, high knees, etc.) to increase your heart rate and blood flow to muscles.

  2. Dynamic Stretching: Perform dynamic stretches that mimic the movements of your workout. These controlled stretches move through the full range of motion. Hint: Scroll down for some great dynamic stretches to try!

  3. Specific Warm-Up: The key to a good warm-up is to focus on the muscles and movements you'll use in your workout. For example, if you plan to do a Strength workout, perform a few exercises you'll be doing but with lighter or no weights. Or, if you’re about to start a Boxing class, do some shadowboxing or upper body dynamic stretches to prepare. 

Remember, the warm-up is a part of your workout, but it shouldn’t be difficult. An effective warm-up should leave you feeling ready to take on your workout, not fatigued.

What is Dynamic Stretching?

Unlike static stretching, which involves holding a position for an extended period, dynamic stretches are all about movement. Instead of holding a stretch, you move through a full range of motion, gradually increasing reach, speed, or both. These stretches mimic the actions you’ll perform during your workout, making them particularly effective for sports and high-intensity workouts like 911±¬ÁĎÍř.

8 Great Dynamic Stretches For Before Your Workout

Ready to get started? Here are eight fantastic dynamic stretches to add to your next 911±¬ÁĎÍř warm-up routine:

1. High Knees

First, let’s start with some light cardio! We love high knees as a dynamic warm-up stretch. They’re great for increasing your heart rate and loosening your hip flexors. Jog in place while bringing your knees up towards your chest. Aim for 30 seconds to a minute of high knees.

2. Arm Circles

After some light cardio, let’s move on to some upper-body movements. Arm circles are perfect for warming up your shoulders and arms for a boxing, total-body, or strength training workout. Extend your arms to the sides and make small circles, gradually increasing their size. Do this for about 30 seconds in each direction.

3. Standing T

Like the arm circles, the standing T exercise is excellent for activating your shoulders and upper back muscles, preparing them for a boxing or upper body workout. Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart and extend your arms straight out in front of you. Open your arms to the sides, creating a "T" shape with your body. As your arms come out to the side, squeeze your shoulder blades together. Then, fold your arms back out in front of you. This action mimics the push and pull of a boxing workout, helping engage that upper body and get it ready to throw some punches. Repeat this exercise for about 30-45 seconds.

4. Torso Twists

Now that the shoulders and upper body are warmed up, let’s move to your core. Torso twists help to activate your core and improve flexibility in your spine. Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart and twist your torso from side to side, allowing your arms to follow the movement. Do this for about 30 seconds.

5. Wrist Rolls

Often overlooked in a warm-up, wrist exercises are especially important if you’re about to start a Mitt Drill, Punch Track, or Trainer-led Boxing workout. Extend your arms in front of you with your palms facing down. Make fists and roll your wrists in circular motions, first in one direction, then the other. Wrist rolls are essential for preparing your joints and tendons, especially for workouts involving gripping, punching, or weight-bearing.

6. Folding Palm Stretch

The folding palm stretch is another simple yet effective exercise to stretch your forearm and wrist muscles. Extend one arm straight out in front of you at shoulder height, with your palm facing down. Point your fingers toward the ground with your extended arm by gently bending your wrist downward. Use the opposite hand to gently pull the fingers of the extended arm towards your body. Make sure to pull gently to avoid any strain. Maintain this position for about 15-30 seconds. You should feel a mild to moderate stretch in the underside of your forearm and wrist. Slowly release the stretch and return your hand to the starting position. Repeat the stretch on the other arm.

7. Leg Swings

Next, let’s move into the lower body. Leg swings are a fantastic way to loosen up your hips and legs, which is essential for most 911±¬ÁĎÍř workouts that require a strong fighter stance! Stand next to a wall for support, swing one leg forward and backward, then side to side. Repeat 10-15 swings per leg.

8. Walking Lunges

Walking lunges are another excellent exercise for warming up your lower body. They’re especially a great warm-up for Total Body or Strength workouts, which often throw lunges and deep squats in the mix. Step forward into a lunge, ensuring your knee doesn’t go past your toes. Push off your back foot and bring it forward into the next lunge. Perform 10-12 lunges on each leg.

Add total body boot camp and strength training to the mix, and you’ve got yourself a complete workout regimen covering all the critical areas of fitness. That’s 911±¬ÁĎÍř! We offer these three different types of workouts, each fun and effective in its own way. 

With so much boxing, total body, and strength content to cover in 911±¬ÁĎÍř, we worked with our expert trainers to put together innovative collections of workouts called Programs. These Programs each center around a specific theme, with classes designed to motivate and keep you on track with your fitness goals. 

One of those programs is our 6-Week to Fit Program, designed to boost confidence, muscular endurance, and strength while building consistency in your workout routine. It consists of three classes each week, or 18 classes in total. The program offers a huge variety of classes, so you’ll get a taste of everything 911±¬ÁĎÍř has to offer. Ready to join us? Here’s a week-by-week breakdown of this 6-Week to Fit Program:

Week 1: Building a Foundation 

Goal: Master the basics of boxing, strength training, and total body form and technique.

In the first week of the 6-Weeks to Fit Program, we’re starting with beginner-level Boxing, Total Body, and Strength Classes so you can work on building your boxing form, learning a few strength training moves, and familiarizing yourself with all the squats, ducks, and rope swings of a Total Body workout. We’re also keeping things shorter with two and 3-song workouts so you can slowly build up your cardiovascular endurance. Even if you’re not a beginner, this is a great place to start to help your body adjust to a new workout routine and ensure you’re practicing the correct form to avoid injury. 

Tip: Throughout this program, we recommend adding a warm-up and cool-down to your routine so your body can prepare for the workout and recover effectively. 

Classes in week 1:

  • Total Body: 3 Song Mixtape with Anthony

  • Strength: 2 Song Upper Body Dance Pop Beginner with Aliyah

Week 2: Developing Strength

Goal: Challenge your endurance and develop confidence in your strength training. 

In the second week, we’re slowly turning up the heat to build your endurance and strength. Classes are still at a beginner level, but we’re starting to introduce some longer workouts, like Lissa’s 15-minute boxing class. This set of workouts has everything from leg work with Trainer Max to upper body burns with Myles to 4 rounds of nonstop boxing with Trainer Lissa. Even though it’ll be tough at moments, you’ll have a ton of fun working out with this week’s mix of EDM, hip-hop, and pop artists like 50 Cent, Olivia Rodrigo, Louis The Child, and more. 

Tip: Just because we’re putting you to work doesn’t mean you have to push yourself to the max. Listen to your body and take a rest day when you need it. Remember, these weekly workouts are only guidelines. 

Classes in week 2:

  • Total Body: 3 Song Total Body Pop with Max

  • Strength: 2 Song Upper Body Pop Beginner with Myles

  • Boxing: 15 min Mixtape Beginner with Lissa

Week 3: Improving Endurance

Goal: Build your endurance and challenge the entire body.

In week three, we’re pushing your endurance to the next level by challenging you to a 4-song Mitt Drill workout. Mitt Drills are a great way to focus on your boxing technique, check in on your form, and find your rhythm and flow. It’s also the perfect opportunity to really go for it as you lose yourself in the music of Cedric Gervais, Lana Del Rey, and Ariana Grande, alongside guidance from Trainer Lissa. We’re also introducing a full-body strength training workout with GW, who will guide you through exercises including rows, split squats, and T-line raises.

Tip: Things might start to feel more challenging by week 3. Perhaps your biceps, triceps, and shoulders are sore from last week’s upper body workout, or your body is still adjusting to a regular workout routine. But stay strong and keep with it! You’re almost halfway through. 

Classes in week 3:

  • Total Body: 2 Song Reggaeton with JD

  • Strength: 3 Song Total Strength West Coast Hip Hop with GW

  • Boxing: 4 Song Mitt Drill Pop vs. EDM Beginner with Lissa

Week 4: Leveling Up

Goal: Lean on the foundation you’ve built to continue to develop your strength and power.

Now that you have a couple of weeks under your belt, it’s time to move into the next phase: Intermediate. Starting this week, we’re throwing an Intermediate class into the mix alongside two Beginner workouts. But don’t worry—all your training so far has prepared you for this. Punches should start to feel more like second nature, and you might notice that you can go for a little longer than you could at the start. Lean into this progress and remember to have fun as you work out with Trainers JD, Aliyah, and Jill. 

Tip: You’re more than halfway through our 6-week workout program! Take a look at your performance dashboard to see how you’ve improved these past few weeks.

Classes in week 4:

  • Total Body: 3 Song EDM Beginner with Aliyah

  • Strength: 4 Song Total Strength Pop with JD

  • Boxing: 15 min Disco with Jill

Week 5: Challenging Your Fitness

Goal: Challenge yourself to pick up heavier weights, put more power behind your punches, or go for longer. 

It’s week five, which means you’ve got four weeks of fitness under your belt, and you’re almost finished with this 6-week program. But that doesn’t mean we’re taking it easy. This week features all Intermediate-level workouts. We also want to challenge you this week to push to the next level—whatever that means for you. This could look like picking up a heavier weight during Max’s Total Strength class or trying to beat your high score on the speed bag during Aliyah’s Total Body workout. The choice is yours!

Tip: Now that you know what you’re doing, it’s time to challenge your friends to beat your high score in a 911±¬ÁĎÍř Match! After you finish one of this week's workouts, send a match request to a fellow 911±¬ÁĎÍřer.

Classes in week 5:

  • Total Body: 4 Song Mixtape with Aliyah

  • Strength: 3 Song Total Strength Mixtape with Max

  • Boxing: 20 min Hip Hop with GW

Week 6: Creating Consistency

Goal: Build on your foundation and continue to challenge your endurance with longer and more challenging workouts. 

Throughout the past few weeks, you’ve mastered the boxing basics, improved your endurance, and built confidence in your strength training. This last week is about continuing to condition your body while setting you up for long-term success. Classes are longer, the boxing combos are more challenging, and the trainers are really going to push you in these last few workouts. But you’ve got the foundation to push through and succeed. We’ve also got some fantastic tracks lined up for you this week featuring Mary J. Blige, Nicki Minaj, ZHU, Justin Bieber, and more.

Tip: The key to maintaining a high level of fitness is consistency. And guess what? You’re doing it! You’ve made it through five weeks of workouts with only three classes left. But just because the program ends doesn’t mean your workouts need to. You’ve come this far in maintaining a consistent workout routine, so why stop now?

Here’s Trainer Jill as she shows off her favorite glute exercises to strengthen and tone your glutes right from the comfort of your home.   1. Dumbbell Deadlifts

Deadlifts are a powerful exercise for building glute strength and definition. In mixed reality, you can simulate lifting weights in a variety of immersive environments, making the experience more engaging and motivating. Our trainers are right there alongside you, offering motivation and tips to perform the exercise safely.

How to deadlift: 

  1. Grab your dumbbells (if you have them) and stand with your feet shoulder-width apart.

  2. Bend at the hips and knees to lower your body towards the ground, letting the dumbbells slide down your thighs.

  3. As you lower down, keep your back straight, chest up, and shoulders back. Your spine should maintain a neutral position throughout the movement. Engage your core muscles to stabilize your spine.

  4. Push through your heels and engage your glutes and hamstrings as you lift the dumbbells to a standing position. 

  5. Keep your back flat as you lift and avoid rounding or arching your spine. You don’t want to use your lower back to lift the weights. Instead, focus on using your glutes and hamstrings to perform the movement. And keep the dumbbells close to your body throughout to maintain balance and stability.

  6. Stand up tall by extending your hips and knees once you've lifted the dumbbells.

  7. Squeeze your glutes at the top of the movement for maximum contraction.

  8. Reverse the movement by hinging at your hips and pushing your hips back.

2. Dumbbell Front Loaded Squats

Front-loaded squats are excellent for targeting glutes and quads. They’re similar to traditional squats, but you place your dumbbells in front of your body instead of to your side. This variation places more emphasis on the quads, core, and upper body compared to the back squat. 

How to perform a front-loaded squat:

  1. Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart or slightly wider. 

  2. Position the dumbbells in front of your shoulders, with your elbows pointing down towards the floor. Your upper arms should be parallel to the ground, forming a 90-degree angle with your forearms. Keep your shoulders relaxed and chest up, and maintain a neutral spine. 

  3. Push your hips back and bend your knees to lower yourself into a squat position. Keep your weight on your heels and get your thighs parallel to the ground or lower if your mobility allows. Ensure your knees are tracking in line with your toes and your back remains straight without rounding.

  4. Once you've reached the bottom of the squat, engage your quadriceps and glutes to push through your heels and return to a standing position. 

  5. As you rise, keep your core tight and maintain the position of the dumbbells in front of your shoulders. Avoid locking out your knees at the top of the movement, and maintain a slight bend to maintain muscle tension.

3. Reverse Lunges

Reverse lunges are an effective exercise for targeting the glutes and helping enhance balance and stability. Better yet, they’re super effective with or without dumbbells. But if you’re looking for an extra challenge, we recommend picking up a set of dumbbells for this exercise. 

How to do a reverse lunge:

  1. Start by standing with your feet together.

  2. Step one foot back into a lunge, lowering your hips until both knees are at 90-degree angles. Ensure that the front knee doesn’t go past your front toes. 

  3. Align your feet like they’re on train tracks vs. a tightrope. This will help you achieve better balance. 

  4. Push through your front heel to return to the starting position.

  5. Alternate legs and repeat.

4. Pulse Squats

Pulse squats are a more challenging variation of the traditional squat. As you can imagine, based on the name, the exercise involves dropping into a squat and performing small bounces or pulses while holding the squat position. Pulsing keeps constant tension on the glutes, making them highly effective for muscle growth. It’s challenging, but in mixed reality, your trainer offers motivation and guidance along the way as they perform the exercise with you. Feel free to drop the dumbbells for this one. Or, if you’re looking for an extra challenge, grab a dumbbell or two and hold them up at your chest or down by your side. 

How to do a pulse squat:

  1. Stand with feet shoulder-width apart.

  2. Push your hips back and bend your knees to lower yourself into a squat position. Keep your weight on your heels, and get your thighs parallel to the ground or lower if your mobility allows. Ensure your knees are tracking in line with your toes and your back remains straight without rounding.

  3. Once in the squat position, perform small up-and-down pulses, keeping your glutes engaged.

  4. Maintain the squat position throughout the pulses.

  5. Listen to your trainer for guidance on when to return to a standing position. 

5. Tap-to-Squat Jump

The tap-to-squat jump combines cardio and strength, making it a fantastic exercise for glute growth and overall fitness. However, you can always modify this exercise if you’re worried about the impact on your joints. Instead of a jump, you can rise into a standing calf raise instead. 

How to perform the tap-to-squat jump:

  1. Stand with feet shoulder-width apart.

  2. Push your hips back and bend your knees to lower yourself into a squat position. 

  3. Once in a squat, place your balance on your right leg as you tap your left leg back behind you. 

  4. Return to a squat position and repeat with your right leg. 

  5. Explode into a jump, extending your legs and straightening your back as you jump up. Modification: Rise into a standing position and lift your heels off the ground for a standing calf raise instead. 

  6. Land softly back into your squat and repeat the movement.

New to 911±¬ÁĎÍř? This Program is a great place to start. It features a series of 101 classes that introduce you to our different workout modes: Boxing, Total Body, and Strength. It’s also a short introductory program that fits perfectly into our . 

  • Program Goal: Get oriented to 911±¬ÁĎÍř and experiment with all three of our workout modes: Boxing, Total Body, and Strength 

  • Program Length: 1 Week Program – 4 classes 

  • Equipment: Dumbbells 

Booty Bootcamp

Looking to give your booty a boost? Look no further than Booty Bootcamp with trainer Jill Barger. This Program features a combination of both Strength and Boxing classes. We promise you’ll be feeling the burn!

  • Program Goal: Build strength in your glutes

  • Program Length: 3 Week Program - 9 classes

  • Equipment: Dumbbells, Mat (optional)

Upper Body Gains

Want to make some gains in your upper body? This program will have you working all the major muscle groups, including your shoulders, biceps, triceps, and back. By the end of 4 weeks, you’ll be proudly flexing in front of your mirror.
